Sam P. Sesedi
Summary
Sam P. Sesedi (1895–1960) was born in Kimberley and qualified as a teacher in 1916; after many years of teaching he went into business as a butcher, and earned a B.A. degree by private study at the age of 50. An executive member of both the All African Convention and the African National Congress in the 1940s, he rejected those organisations' boycott policy and won election to the Natives' Representative Council for the Cape rural constituency in 1949, while serving as president of the Location Advisory Boards Congress.
