Summary

Percy Reginald Hill (1888–1950) was a chartered accountant with Evatt & Company in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur (1906–1919) and an amateur photographer of everyday life in Singapore and Malaya: rubber plantations, temples, coastal and river villages, street and market scenes, and portraits of hawkers and residents. His collection of sixty 8 cm glass plate negatives, some hand-coloured by Hill himself, was donated to the National Library, Singapore in 2008 by his family and is digitized on the library's PictureSG platform. Born in Lancashire, he left Singapore in 1919 for Sydney, Australia, where he died in 1950.
